President & CEO

Jingqing Zhang

Born in Jiangxi, China. Came to Japan as an international student, worked in HR at a Japanese manufacturer, and founded Keisei Inc. in 2009 — pouring everything she learned into supporting today's students.

Journey

From international student to champion of international students

  1. Sep 2000 — Arrival in Japan

Enrolled at Kitakyushu YMCA Japanese Language School. Started a part-time job at an izakaya — the beginning of an apprenticeship in Japanese culture.

  2. Apr 2001 — University

Entered the Faculty of Economics at the University of Kitakyushu. The volunteers of “Forum Kokura Minami” became dozens of adoptive “moms.”

  3. Jun 2003 — Exchange in the UK

Studied at Cardiff University, then backpacked solo across Europe.

  4. Apr 2005 — First job

Joined the HR department of an auto-parts maker in Aichi, handling recruiting and training. Within months she was interviewing Japanese candidates — heart pounding the whole time.

  5. Sep 2005 — First lecture

Spoke at JASSO to students, universities and companies. Seeing the students' faces light up: “I have to share more.”

  6. Oct 2007 — Volunteering begins

Began supporting students' job hunting as a volunteer. Every single student she supported that first year received a job offer — a 100% success rate.

  7. Oct 2008 — University courses

Launched career-support courses at Nagoya University and Chubu University. The drive to support more and more students kept growing.

  8. Dec 2008 — Job-hunting Help Desk

A free email consultation service — to reach students nationwide and build a channel between alumni and the next generation.

  9. Mar 2009 — Featured in the Yomiuri Shimbun

The Help Desk was featured in the national press.

  10. May 2009 — Featured in the Asahi Shimbun

Her support for international students' job hunting drew growing attention.

  11. Jun 2009 — Yomiuri national edition

International students spotlighted as a source of vitality for Japan.

  12. Jul 2009 — Tokai young entrepreneurs' program

Joined the 2nd cohort of the Tokai young entrepreneurs' school — wrestling with how to make student support sustainable.

  13. Oct 2009 — Keisei Inc. founded

A new step forward: together with like-minded supporters, championing the success of international students.
